Anyone who knows me is aware that I have a huge thing for dogs. We always had dogs as pets when I was growing up, and I just recently adopted my own from the Humane Society of Western Montana. I stumbled upon my newfound favorite dog charity while familiarizing myself with Twitter, yet another social media force that I’m experimenting with. Stray from the Heart, a non-profit dog rescue organization based out of New York, has the basic dog rescue opportunities–donate, volunteer, adopt–but they enhance their cause with virtual adoptions. As a virtual adopter, you can choose your pet and donate a specified amount for that animal. I won’t over analyze here, but take a look and see for yourself. It’s an amazing opportunity for those like me who can’t even volunteer without bringing one home.

When I was in school, the concept that was stressed the most was correct grammar and spelling. One of my classes had a 25 point penalty for every word that was misspelled. So I’m appalled when I find reputable companies misspelling words and using a plural form instead of a possessive. Check out this website, and see if you can spot the two mistakes.
Hello world! June 2, 2008
This is my first adventure in blogging. I graduated in 2006 with a degree in public relations, took a year off, and recently started working at a technology firm in the marketing department. It amazes me how much has changed in the couple of years since I earned my degree. This whole social media buzz is in high gear, and I learned nothing about it in all of my four years in college. So, this blog is a baby step for me, and I hope to both learn and teach through my posts on here. I don’t really have a focus yet, so let’s see what this evolves into!
